With 16 career victories in the IndyCar Series, Dan Wheldon is an established veteran open-wheel driver and a major force on the racetrack.  Upon breaking into IndyCars in 2003, Dan won Rookie of the Year honors, and just two years later, he took the checkered flag at the Indy 500 and won the 2005 IndyCar Series driver’s championship.  In eight full IndyCar Series seasons, he has posted 132 career starts, collected 26 Top-3 finishes, 93 Top-10 finishes and 5 Pole positions.  Dan has also won the Rolex 24 Hours at Daytona.

At the 2011 season opening race in St. Petersburg, Dan Wheldon announced that he would drive for Bryan Herta Autosport at the Centennial running of the Indianapolis 500 in May.  In his only race of the season, Wheldon won his second career Indy 500 after J.R. Hildebrand hit the wall in the last corner of the race, and became only the 18th driver in the 100-year history of the race to win it more than once.
